Fifteen Miles on the Erie Canal

Fifteen Miles on the Erie Canal

Fifteen Miles on the Erie Canal' is a lively, colorful, & very participatory historic musical storytelling journey for children of all ages and a great treat for people of all ages! Enjoy authentic tall tales and canal sing-alongs, and act-along songs presented in 19th century performance style, complete with great sets & costumes. Hear favorite canal music played as it once was, performed on a collection of historic instruments that include hammered dulcimer, banjo, fiddle, squeezeboxes, and even a Hurdy-Gurdy!

The concert commences with a story unfolding as Captain Simon Slick and Irish cook Sallie Waters meet up with Sal, a truly amazing mule. The trio set off on a rollicking journey down The Grand E-r-i-e Canal, the 8th Wonder of the World. This show has great characters and everyone will have a ball singing and viewing instruments from many days gone by.

This show celebrating the canal and Macedon Heritage during the bicentennial year of both Macedon and Wayne County has been made possible with funding from the Friends of Macedon Public Library. The event will be held in the Firemen's Pavilion located at Lock 30. Bring your own lawn chair(s) to ensure you have seating for the concert.
