Going the Extra Mile: Making Your Library ADA-Friendly Instead of ADA-Compliant Online

This online workshop will provide various techniques to make your physical library space more ADA-friendly instead of only ADA-compliant. The presenter will also discuss ways to make programming more ADA-friendly. We will look at physical, mental health, and sensory ways to make your library a more welcoming space to all.

About the Presenter: Rachel Stevenson is a librarian from Northwest Pennsylvania. It was not until her father lost her leg to a parasite she realized how ableist the world is and became an advocate for those with disabilities. She lives with an invisible disability she grew up being told she should never talk about because people would judge her harshly over it. She is the first to admit that she is always learning.
