The Beer-ie Canal Was A-Risin': Brewing on the Erie Canal
Did you know that Dansville once had its own access to the Erie Canal? At one time, goods could travel from the main canal down the Genesee Valley Branch, and then along the Dansville spur. Where it stopped in town was another matter... one that led to a literal battle, the eponymous event of our town's own Battle Street Brewery.
Educator Derrick Pratt from the Erie Canal Museum will join DPL at BSB for a lively and informative discussion about the Erie Canal's impact on brewing along the Erie Canal.
From the ECM website:
"The Erie Canal was a transformative waterway for various industries along its route, including brewing, which flourished from Albany to Buffalo. This discussion examines the Canal’s beer boom in the 19th century and its new one in the 21st."
BSB will have their regular Thursday night wing night, and Matt will be concocting a signature cocktail for the occasion!
