Recycle a CD into a Drop Spindle with Wendy & Creative Bug Online
Learn how to take an old CD and turn it into a drop spindle that can be used to spin plied wool into yarn. The drop spindle is used to wind plied wool into yarn that can be used for your needlework projects. Make the Creative Bug version of the drop spindle, or use Wendy's personal method depending on your personal needs.
There will be eight take & make kits available (first come, first serve). A $2.00 materials fee will apply upon picking up the kit. To reserve a kit, call 315-986-5932.
The supplies needed for the project are:
3/8" wood dowel
12" long Utility knife
Eye hook 3/4" long
1 rubber grommet with an inside diameter of 3⁄8 inch and an outside diameter of 5⁄8 inch
Pliers
Wax Paper
2 old CDs
O-ring 3/8" or a rubber band
Plied wool yarn
*Please note, to access Creative Bug, you must be a Macedon Public Library patron or belong to a library that offers access to Creative Bug.
